Another Special Edition of BuzziNews.
First we want to send a warm “Thank you” to all the cartoonists that have contributed to this edition, to the next edition and also to the many people who responded with positive feedback to our idea –
A site dedicated to only the good news in cartoons. We hope we made you laugh and we hope to keep on making you smile with this new special 2008 Recap Edition.

May I remind you once again that the next issue will be coming out soon so send in your cartoons and participate in the competition

Iran's President Confesses: "I am a Facebook Addict"



Ahmadinejad adds:

"Every day I make new friends, and for free! I used to think you have to give oil wells to have friends, but you don't. Who needs an A-bomb when you have a Facebook profile? I was only looking for attention"


Did we manage to make you laugh? Tell your friends about it so they may laugh too. They deserve it. The recommended diet for a tough economic crisis involves a big dose of healthy and optimistic humor.

Here at BuzziNews, the world's first and only online journal reporting exclusively in cartoons, we have launched a new International Cartoon Marathon competition with $3000 of prizes. Our members already include world-renowned illustrators from about 30 countries around the world, and we cant wait to see what they come up with.

BuzziNews is intent to look at the world from a positive prospective and report the "good news" that we all would like to see. A statement such as the one above by president Ahmadinejad is still a dream but a good one.

We take pride in our global readership and the international nature of our cartoonist members. In the previous competition The winners of the first, second and third prizes were from Turkey, Iran and Thailand respectively.

We have decided to update you from time to time on good news around the world so you will be inspired to draw cartoons on posotive subjects. here are a few ideas:

Castro Authorized Mobile Phones 28/03/2008
Cuban President Raul Castro has authorized citizens to purchase mobile phones, which were only permitted for government officials when his brother Fidel was in rule. Many of the Cubans already had cell phones, which were bought by their family or friends from abroad; but this is the first time Cuban people can sign prepaid contracts on their name.

Governor Swarzenegger announced the Rooftop Solar Installation project, which will produce enough power to supply energy for 162,000 homes in Los Angeles. The 65 million squares solar panels will be installed on unused roofs of commercial building.

Flights with Scale on the Moon 28/03/2008
The Xcore Aerospace Company has announced its desire to begin test flights to space for commercial purposes in 2010; they believe the ship will make up to four flights a day.

Firefighter Saves Dog with CPR 28/03/2008
Ouashita Parish, a Firefighter from Louisiana performed CPR on a dog in order to save it after extracting it out of a burning trailer. After saving the dog, the firefighter went back to his duties and left an oxygen tank with the dog and its masters.

Operation 'Cookie Storm' in Iraq 28/03/2008
A teenager from New Jersey had already sent 14,088 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to the US troops in Iraq. With the help of her family and friends, sixteen years old Claire Marinello says the cookies may give the troops 'a taste of being at home'.

The Washington Nationals' gleaming new baseball park is the first stadium running with energy-saving lighting equipment, drought resistant plants, and water conserving facilities which are estimated to save almost six millions galons of water every year. With 14 Spoons on his Face 28/03/2008
Nine years old Joe Alisson from the UK can make 14 spoons stick on his face: 4 on the forhead, one on his chin, mouth and nose; one on his left ear and two on the right one, and two on each chick. The new British talent has been practicing this art the last two years since his cousin encouraged him to try.

Onions: No More Crying 28/03/2008
Crop and Food, a scientific research firm from New Zeland, announced its intention to extract the element, in onions, that irritate the human eye. Dr. Eady, who is in charge of the project, believes the new onions, now being developed, would become the new standard onioins at home.
